Opening Hours and Tickets

The Biblioteca Capitolare, the ancient Chapter Library of Verona, is open for visitors.
Below you can find the security measures which have to be taken in order to access the Biblioteca Capitolare:

  • Before entering, visitors’ body temperature will be measured with a thermo-scanner, and visitors will have to disinfect their hands with a sanitizing gel
  • Access to the Library will be allowed only to visitors wearing a safety mask, which must be worn throughout the entire visit.
  • GREEN PASS: in compliance with current government regulations, from January 10th 2022 it will be mandatory for visitors to show their “Super” Green Pass (vaccinated people or that have recently recovered from Covid-19), to access the Biblioteca Capitolare. This provision do not apply to children under the age of 12 and to individuals with specific medical certification.

Starting from Thursday, 9 December 2021, the Museo Canonicale (Piazza Duomo 21 – Verona) will be hosting the temporary exhibition “Per saecula – moments of history of the Biblioteca Capitolare” in the following opening hours and days:

From Thursday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 1:00 Pm and from 2:30 to 5:30 PM.
Guided tours in English can be activated on request.
The exhibition will be closed in the following dates 24-25-26 December eand1-2 January.


Exhibition: full fare € 3, under 14 € 1, free for children under the age of 10.
Exhibition + guided tour: full fare € 13, under 14 € 8, free for children under the age of 10.
English Guided Tours will be activated on request with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 25 participants – or with a minimum contribution of € 60 for smaller groups. We suggest to book your tour at least a few days in advance. 

The monumantal Main Hall of the Biblioteca Capitolare is temporarily closed due to ongoing restoring works. Thence, the Ticket Office and the exhibition have been moved to the adjacent Canonical Museum (Piazza Duomo 21 – Verona, entrance from Canonical Cloister). The individual tour will therefore be limited to the Museum, while a few rooms of the library can be visited by booking the guided tour.

  • Independent visit: the exhibition can be visited in the rooms of the Canonical Museum – entrance from the Canonical Cloister, under the archway on the lef of the Cathedral in Piazza Duomo)
  • Guided tours
    Guided tours – lasting around 1 hour and 45 minutes, are made of two different moments. The first one takes place in the Canonical Museum, visiting the temporary exhibition “Per saecula” and discovering the millenary history of the Biblioteca Capitolare. The second part takes place in the “Raterian Room” – former consultation room of the library, with a close-up look at some precious manuscripts and printed books from the Capitolare’s collections.
